After a long wait, AMD Ryzen 9 3950X is finally set to go on sale this November 25. Incorporating 16 cores with the base clock at 3.5GHz and boost clock at 4.7GHz, Ryzen 9 3950X is already way efficient with 105W TDP. But AMD is going a step further by introducing a new Eco Mode. This mode will cut down the 105-Watt TDP to even lower 65W. As a result, the CPU will be even more efficient which will bring down the temperature too making it cooler.

Ryzen 9 3950X offers the fastest single-thread performance against any AM4 CPU. This processor also boasts highest cores and threads available in any desktop CPU. Just like other third-generation Ryzen AM4 processors, it will run on the latest X570 motherboard platform. According to AMD, Ryzen 9 3950X will outperform any Intel CPU in this class by a huge margin. Interestingly, even the Intel 12-core Core i9-9920X costs a lot more than 16 core Ryzen 3950X.

AMD new Eco Mode

There are scenarios when users want to access all the available cores but do not want to squeeze all the power out of it. In that case, you can enable this mode via the new version of the AMD Ryzen Master Utility. This mode is not just available in Ryzen 3950X, all of the 3rd gen Ryzen CPUs (above Ryzen 5) will support the new AMD Eco Mode.

Pricing and Availability

AMD Ryzen 9 3950X will retail at $749 USD and is confirmed to start shipping from November 25, 2019. If you do not benefit from so many cores but seek almost same performance, you can go with 12 core Ryzen 9 3900X that sells only for $499 on Amazon.
