AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3 Details and Release Date

AMD can’t stop destroying Intel market with its powerful cost-effective processors. And now AMD finally unleashed the first two much-awaited 3rd Gen Ryzen Threadripper processors. One of the CPU is Threadripper 3960X with 24 cores and the other is 3970X with 32 cores. Both these Ryzen Threadripper 3 processors offer significant improvements which we will talk about in a moment. Also, these new chips come with a new TRX40 platform and sTRX4 socket. The release date for third-generation Threadripper processors is set to November 25, 2019.

These new Threadripper 3 Chips feature AMD’s latest Zen2 7nm architecture and support blazing-fast PCIe 4.0 interface. In terms of speed, both of these chips offer substantial gain in single-core and multi-core speeds. The 24 core Threadripper 3960X will support base clock at 3.8 GHz with 4.5 GHz boost. Whereas the 32 core Threadripper 3970X will offer base clock at 3.7 GHz with the same 4.5 GHz boost.

Not only clocks have improved, the new Threadripper 3 processors also boast more PCIe than Threadripper 2. Now you will get up to 72 PCIe 4.0 lanes to work with. Because of numerous technological advancements, AMD chose to upgrade both the motherboard platform and the processor socket. Compared to 24 core Threadripper 2970X, the Threadripper 3960X offers a huge 140 MB of cache memory instead of 76. And in comparison of 32 Core Threadripper 2990W, the new Threadripper 3970X, offers a whopping 144 MB of cache against 80 MB.

Pricing And Release Date

Although the announcement regarding AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3 processors was made earlier but the details were missing. Now since the release date is clear, you can order the new AMD Threadripper 3 processor this November 25, 2019. The 24 core Threadripper 3960X will retail at $1,399 whereas the 32 core Threadripper 3970X will cost $1,999 USD.

Intel in Trouble!

With this announcement, Intel has lots of things to worry about. The biggest issue that Intel is facing right now is the price to performance ratio. So shall we blame Intel for overpricing its chips or admire AMD’s latest technology? Well, the credit goes to AMD’s Infinity Fabric technology that helps to keeps the price low allowing more cores. But there are lots of things in 3rd Gen Ryzen Threadripper Processors that makes it a great choice for content creators such as video editors, 3D artists, Music Producers, etc.

Now it will be very exciting to see what the motherboard manufacturers can do to compliment these beasts. Since content creators now work with the latest peripherals that use Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, it would be great if we can see Thunderbolt 3 integrated inside the new Threadripper 3 TRX40 motherboards.
