AMD just released its all-new Radeon Adrenalin 2020 Edition Software that features several updates as well as new beneficial features. The user interface is also updated to provide quick access to game stats, performance reports, driver updates, and more. Most importantly, this update features a completely new architecture to squeeze even more performance from the graphic cards.
New Features in Radeon Adrenalin 2020
Integer Scaling
One of the most exciting features of Radeon Adrenalin 2020 is the support for Integer Scaling. The main purpose of this feature is to maintain the crisp boxed-type pixel quality of classic retro games. Without integer scaling, the classic low-resolution games may seem soft on modern displays. Basically, it intelligently scales on-screen images from one pixel to four pixels (or more) in order to achieve sharp results.
Radeon Boost
Adrenalin 2020 comes with a new Radeon Boost feature that will increase average performance by up to 23%. Games such as Rise of the Tomb Raider, PUBG, and Overwatch will experience 10%, 22%, and 38% performance increase respectively with Radeon Boost.
To achieve better performance, Radeon Boost dynamically reduces the frame resolution as soon as it detects fast mouse inputs.
AMD Link App Worldwide Connection
Although the AMD Link app is already available allowing you to stream games from PC to mobile devices. However, you only had the option to connect PC and mobile devices via a wifi connection. Now, with the AMD Radeon Adrenalin 2020 Edition update, you’re not restricted to a wifi connection in a home. You can connect from anywhere across the world and have access to the games through any internet connection.
Updated Radeon Image Sharpening
Radeon Image Sharpening (RIS) was introduced earlier in 2019 that automatically enhances contrast and sharpness of the visuals through a contrast adaptive sharpening algorithm. In the 2020 Radeon Software edition, you now have the option to control the image sharpness. Additionally, this update adds RIS support for Microsoft Direct X 11 games.
Radeon Anti-Lag Direct X 9 Expanded Support
Now with Adrenalin 2020, Radeon pre-RX 5000 graphic cards will also support the Anti-Lag feature for Microsoft Direct X 9 games. Anti Lag feature was also introduced earlier in 2019 with the aim of reducing click to response times. It offers up to 31% of lag reduction resulting in fastest user experience.
Redesigned GUI
As mentioned in the beginning, the new user interface allows you to quickly take a glance at your game stats, performance reports, driver updates, etc. But there’s so much more to it. In this AMD Radeon Adrenalin 2020 Software update, you can access the fully functional UI while gaming by pressing Alt+R hotkey.
Furthermore, the user interface can adapt itself according to your screen. Unlike normal view, it will display differently while you’re gaming so you can access all the important features easily. You will also find a new built-in browser from where you can access a wide range of tutorials and walkthroughs.
Overall, this is a great update with lots of new features and performance improvements. It’s nice to see the competition rising between Nvidia and AMD. We will soon release a post on comparison between GPUs from these companies, so be sure to check them out.
