Asus has announced its latest Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 laptop with the latest generation Intel-core i9 processor, an NVIDIA Graphics card and with all that, a Dual Screen for better multitasking. Asus says that the secondary screen will come handy to gamers and power users, who use multiple monitors for live streaming, multitasking, and game guides. Let’s take a look at the specifications of the device
Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 Features
Dual-Display
The new Asus ROG Zyphrus Duo 15 features Dual Display with the primary being a 15.6 inch IPS LCD and the secondary display is a ROG ScreenPad Plus, that has the full base width of the device. This secondary display is positioned above the keyboard. It features a resolution of 3840*1100 pixels. This addition on the device makes this device more suitable to Youtube and other live stream gamers as this display offers a good viewing angle as well and it is raised 13-degree from the base for better visibility. The dual display is mainly meant for making multi-tasking easier and better. The laptop also offers a good viewing angle to the secondary screen as it is raised from the ground.
Display Options
When it comes to the features of Display of the new Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 15, the laptop shows more versatility, similar to its sibling, the Asus ZenBook Pro duo. The new ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 as said earlier offers two display options. Either you can go with a Full HD main screen that will support a staggering refresh rate of 300Hz or you can choose the 4K UHD display option to enjoy high resolution. But with the 4K UHD option, you will only get a maximum refresh rate of 60Hz. Both Full HD and 4K UHD options will support an IPS panel. As a benefit, you’ll enjoy wider viewing angles with accurate representation. The older ZenBook Pro Duo on the other hand comes with an OLED display to offer rich blacks with high contrast.
In terms of color gamut, the 4K UHD option for the latest Zephyrus Duo 15 will offer up to 100% AdobeRGB. Content creators like photo editors will greatly benefit from the high color gamut coverage. On the other hand, the Full HD display is only capable of covering 100% of sRGB color space which is not bad either.
The display also supports G-SYNC and Microsoft Hybrid Graphics. NVIDIA’s G-SYNC technology integrates the Refresh rate of the display with the graphics card to offer a better experience. The support for G-sync will also allow gamers to use the full potential of the higher refresh rate display.
Latest 10th Gen Core-i9 CPUs
ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 offers two processor variants. First being Intel 10th Gen Core i9-10980HK CPU, which Intel has launched recently. It is a 14nm process, Octa-Core processor with a 16-thread CPU. The CPU is clocked at 2.4 GHz and it goes all the way up to 5.3GHz for better multi-tasking and gaming. The second variant equips the 10th Gen Core i7-10875H processor. This processor is also a 14nm, Octa-Core processor with 16 threads. But, the Core i7 variant is clocked at 2.3 GHz and will only go up to 5.1GHz clock frequency.
GPU Performance
For handling Graphic intensive tasks, the company has provided NVIDIA’s latest Graphics card. The new Zephyrus Duo 15 comes with 8GB of GDDR6 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super with Max-Q Design GPU for the Intel Core i9 variant. Asus also packs 8GB of GDDR6 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super with Max-Q Design for the Core-i7 variant. This laptop will be able to handle the graphic intensive tasks with ease. Playing Fortnite and rendering video on Adobe Premiere Pro will be a breeze on both the variant as it packs the latest GPU from NVIDIA.
The new GeForce RTX 2080 GPU with Max-Q provides 6 times more graphic performance compared to the predecessor and it has AI-enhanced graphics with Real-Time Ray Tracing in games and it is the world’s first GPU to pack with this feature and this GPU also features an 8-phase power supply overclocking and dual-axial 13-blade fans coupled with a vapor chamber to avoid heating while handling heavy tasks.
Talking about the GeForce 2070 GPU in the Core-i7 variant, this too packs with Real-Time Ray Tracing Feature in games but with a 6-phase power supply for overclocking and dual-axial 13-blade fans coupled with a vapour chamber to keep the laptop cool while handling Graphics intensive heavy tasks.
Cooling System
The laptop comes with a liquid metal thermal conductive material made by Thermal Grizzly, which has been used for improved CPU cooling. The laptop raises a 13-degree above from the base as there is a large opening vent on the bottom for keeping CPU cool even when it handles intense tasks.
Memory
On the memory front, Asus uses LPDDR4 16 GB dual-channel onboard memory clocked at 3200 MHz with a SODIMM Slot to add another 32 GB onto the device.
