MSI has introduced a new 27″ IPS ESPORTS gaming monitor (MSI OPTIX MAG274R) featuring a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a low 1ms response time. Just like the recently launched MSI Optix MAG273R 144Hz monitor, the new Optix MAG274R supports a Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, and 10-bit (8-bit +FRC) color depth. So what’s different? The new Optix MAG274R now supports a brighter 300-nit display vs 250 nits. Unfortunately, it offers a lower color gamut than the predecessor supporting 95% DCI-P3 & 132% sRGB.

MSI OPTIX MAG274R Esports Gaming Monitor Features

Easy Changes

A 27” (69cm) monitor ensures that viewers are able to easily see and navigate any menu. MSI’s OSD 2.0 allows players to change the settings quickly for whatever gaming experience is desired. Allowing users to change their settings with their mouse and keyboard. This is to provide users the ability to fix any visual inconvenience a game’s setting might provide with easy access to the options.

Visual Marvels

The Optix MAG274R even comes with night vision. This feature brightens the dark parts of the screen, allowing gamers to finally see that hidden player lurking in the shadows. As an added bonus, this monitor strives to be easy for long term gaming by cutting back on the use of tiring blue light. This monitor has removed a huge chunk of blue light from the screen, keeping only what is necessary to keep those oceans from looking purple.

Rotation Rotation Rotation!

Optix MAG274R is even prepared for gaming in just about any direction. It has a 170-degree pivot and moves in just about any direction to show your friends the greatest play you ever made. It even can be turned vertically. Plus, with a tilting option, standing after tireless hours of sitting becomes no problem.

Things to Consider

Visual

MSI Optix MAG274R does not have HDR on its own. For those of you who want this feature, this product can handle HDR, but this feature requires the user to take the necessary actions. On top of this, in order to receive the maximum viewing experience this monitor, your desktop should have an AMD Radeon graphics card to use the FreeSync capabilities. This feature will allow you to control the frame rate more accurately and with less screen tearing. However, an AMD Radeon graphics card is required.

Audio

There is only one audio out port, so whatever sound system you’re connecting to it needs to have only one port. There are speakers inside the system but they aren’t speakers to brag about. One look at this product shows that the focus is on the visuals.

MSI Optix MAG274R Price

The price for the new MSI OPTIX MAG274R IPS Esports gaming monitor has not been released yet, but after reviewing these settings and comparing the price of similar products made by MSI and their competitors. A price range of around $250 USD to $300 USD is to be expected.
