MSI Optix MAG273 & Optix MAG273R Monitors Unveiled
MSI recently introduced two new IPS eSports HDR gaming monitors (Optix MAG273 & Optix MAG273R) that feature 144 Hz refresh rate, low response time, 10 bit (8bit + FRC) color depth, wide color gamut, and 250 nits brightness. These monitors incorporate AMD FreeSync technology to prevent tearing issues. The difference between the new MSI Optix MAG273 and Optix MAG273R is minimal and we will talk about that in a moment.
MSI Optix MAG273 & Optix MAG273R Features
High Refresh Rate & Low Response Time
Both Optix MAG273 & Optix MAG273R eSports HDR gaming monitors feature the same refresh rate of 144 HZ. Those who will upgrade to any of these new MSI monitors from a 60 Hz monitor will see a significant improvement in the visuals. Complementing that, the low 1ms response time helps to prevent any ghosting effects.
If you’re a hardcore gamer and even 144 Hz is not enough for you, consider going for extreme gaming monitors such as ASUS ROG Swift 360Hz or ASUS TUF VG279QM that boast massive refresh rates.
Resolution, Bit Depth, & Color Gamut
Supporting an IPS panel, MSI Optix MAG273 & Optix MAG273R offer Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution with 10 bit (8 bit + FRC) color depth and wide color gamut. Covering up to 136% of sRGB color space and 98% of DCI-P3 gamut, these new MSI eSports HDR gaming monitors feature amazing color reproduction capabilities.
Gaming OSD App
Via the Gaming OSD App, both Optix MAG273 & Optix MAG273R can control the monitor display parameters under a software window. This app also includes MSI’s Night Vision feature that smartly lightens up the dark areas on the screen without overexposing.
Difference between MSI Optix MAG273 vs Optix MAG273R
While most of the specs are identical in both these new MSI gaming monitors, some minor differences do exist. The Optix MAG273R comes with MSI Mystic Light software whereas the Optix MAG273 does not. Another difference is that the Optix MAG273R comes with a height-adjustable stand which again the non-R version MAG273 does not support.
