Remember our post on ASUS TUF VG279QM? We called it the world’s fastest monitor with a refresh rate of 280Hz. But the company’s own ASUS ROG Swift 360Hz 24.5-inch gaming monitor (recently unveiled at CES 2020) is here to steal the “World’s Fastest Monitor” title. The goodness lies in its name only which mentions its jawdropping 360Hz refresh rate. But do we even need this?
Both ASUS ROG and NVIDIA are working together to get this extremely fast display in the market. ROG Swift 360Hz aims only at hardcore gamers in the industry. Since gamers are making more money than ever, the competition is also increasing. Nowadays, the standards and requirements of high-performance games are so high that even a 240Hz monitor is sometimes not enough.
With the introduction of high paying esports tournaments, gamers are making millions. A slight delay of milliseconds can result in a victory or defeat. According to ASUS and NVIDIA, games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Overwatch require much more than 240Hz to display every frame those titles are capable of.
If you’re upgrading to ASUS ROG Swift 360Hz monitor from a 60Hz monitor, you will see a dramatic improvement in performance for obvious reasons. Even against displays boasting 144Hz refresh rate, the difference is quite noticeable.
As the level of comparison increases, the difference gets more subtle. Professional gamers will still be able to observe a difference between 240Hz and 360Hz monitors. Additionally, the ROG Swift 360Hz monitor can display 50% more frames ever second compared to any 240Hz display.
So, do we really need a 360Hz monitor? For hardcore gamers, definitely! You can really feel the extra smoothness, responsiveness, and better motion clarity with this new 360Hz display.
As of now, there is no word on pricing for the ASUS ROG Swift 360Hz gaming monitor. But it will certainly not come cheap.
