A few days ago, ASUS introduced three gaming monitors (TUF VG259QM, TUF VG279QM, and ROG Strix XG279Q). Both of the new TUF monitors boast world’s highest refresh rates at 280Hz. Whereas the ROG Strix XG279Q features 170Hz refresh rate but at a higher resolution. In this post, we will take a look at ASUS TUF VG279QM which is currently the world’s fastest 27″ gaming monitor with a 280Hz refresh rate.
ASUS TUF VG279QM Features
ASUS FastIPS Technology
Incorporating ASUS FastIPS technology, ASUS VG279QM is able to achieve an ultra-fast gray-to-gray response time of just 1ms. As a benefit, issues like smearing and motion blur are almost non-existent. According to ASUS, this technology allows liquid crystal elements of the display to switch up to 4X faster than conventional IPS panels.
World’s Fastest Refresh Rate
Coming to the spotlight feature, ASUS TUF VG279QM prides itself by claiming the record for being the world’s fastest monitor with a refresh rate of 280Hz. However, it is worth knowing that such a fast refresh rate is only achievable through overclocking.
Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync
ASUS Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync technology allows VG279QM to have a blazing fast MPRT response time of 1ms. Note that this response time is different from the GTG response time. Even if GTG response time is at its lowest, long MPRT (Moving Picture Response Time) can still introduce motion blur.
ASUS Dynamic Shadow Boost
Sometimes certain moments of the games are too dark to figure out the details in the whole scene. But ASUS VG279QM comes with a Dynamic Shadow Boost technology that automatically lightens up the dark areas improving the overall viewing experience.
Color, Contrast, Brightness
Supporting a contrast ratio of 1000:1, this ASUS VG279QM gaming monitor covers 99% sRGB and 95% DCI-P3 color gamut. Since it can reach up to a maximum brightness of 400 cd/m², this monitor clarifies for DisplayHDR400 certification. Additionally, VG279QM also provides the option for Multi HDR mode that allows you to choose from different HDR modes such as ASUS Cinema HDR and ASUS Gaming HDR.
