Meet the new Apple iPad Pro 2020 that features a new processor and a new camera setup along with a powerful LiDAR scanner. With the latest Apple Magic keyboard, the new iPad Pro can behave pretty much like a laptop as it now supports trackpad. (Any iPad supporting iPadOS 13.4 will be able to make use of the trackpad).
Just like the predecessor, this new Early 2020 edition is available in two sizes (11″ and 12.9″). Both the models share identical specs except the screen resolution and battery. In terms of storage, these models offer up to 1TB capacity starting from 128GB.
Apple New iPad Pro 2020 Features
New & Faster Processor
The latest iPad Pro 2020 comes with the A12Z Bionic processor. According to Apple, this processor is so fast that the new iPad Pro outshines most of the PC laptops available today. That is some bold statement from the company! Professionals such as video editors, graphic designers, etc, will benefit from the 8 core graphics processor that helps the new iPad Pro to easily edit 4k videos or render 3d designs.
New Camera Setup with LiDAR Scanner
Another major improvement in the iPad Pro 2020 lies in the camera setup that includes a new 10 MP Ultra Wide camera lens with ƒ/2.4 aperture, and 125° field of view. Accompanying that is a 12 MP wide angle camera lens supporting ƒ/1.8 aperture. On the front, the 7 MP camera offers f/2.2 aperture.
In terms of frame rate, both the wide and ultra-wide cameras are capable of recording 4k videos up to 60 fps. At 1080p, Slo‑mo video support is also available up to 240 frames per second. The front camera which Apple calls a TrueDepth camera offers video recording frame rates up to 60 fps at Full HD resolution.
In addition, the new Apple iPad Pro also features a powerful LiDAR scanner. LiDAR stands for Light Detection and Ranging. Basically, this scanner identifies the distance of the object from the camera by measuring the time it takes for light to reflect back. Don’t expect this scanner to measure long distances as it can only calculate light reflections from up to five meters.
One of the major benefits of the new LiDAR scanner is that it enables the latest iPad Pro 2020 to work amazingly well with augmented reality apps. Apple claims iPad Pro 2020 to be the world’s most powerful device for AR.
Trackpad Support with the New Magic Keyboard
Thanks to the latest iPadOS that enables trackpad support to the new iPad Pro 2020 and all the iPads supporting iPadOS 13.4. Users will love the latest Apple Magic keyboard that now offers individual hard keycaps and a new scissor mechanism with 1mm travel for responsive and quiet typing experience.
Back to the trackpad again. Does the trackpad work the same way in the iPad as a laptop? The answer is No! Since iPadOS works in a different manner, it is not possible to replicate the behavior of the pointer and cursor in the exact same way as a laptop.
First of all, the pointer will not look the same as the one we normally see. It will be a circular dot. Secondly, it will not remain active all the time. The dot only becomes visible whenever it’s in an action in a suitable app.
