Intel just launched its latest 10th gen Core S-series Comet Lake desktop processors supporting 14nm architecture. Among them is the flagship Intel Core i9-10900K 10-core desktop processor that features extremely high turbo frequency speeds up to 5.3 GHz via Thermal Velocity Boost technology. Intel claims the new 10th gen i9-10900K to be the world’s fastest gaming processor.
While Intel’s biggest rival AMD is out with 7nm chips for quite a while now, it’s a little disappointing to see the latest Intel 10th gen S series desktop processors running on the same 14nm architecture.
The flagship Intel i9-10900K features 10 cores / 20 threads and manages to reach up to 5.20 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0. But the boost clock is further extendable to 5.30 GHz via Intel Thermal Velocity Boost technology (TVB).
TVB is Intel’s proprietary technology that intelligently increases the clock frequency even higher than what Turbo Boost technology can offer. Since the frequency gain and duration is dependent on the workload, processor, & thermal system, do not expect the TVB to be stable.
In terms of memory, the new Intel Core i9-10900K supports up to 128 GB DDR4 dual-channel RAM running at 2933 MHz.
For robust connectivity, the i9-10900K equips Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 module enabling the fastest possible theoretical maximum speeds up to 2402 Mbps.
