Due to the blazing-fast transfer and read/write speeds, content creators and even general consumers are opting for all-SSD systems. But unlike HDD, SSDs are not able to offer high storage capacities. Well, until now! Meet the all-new Sabrent Rocket Q 8TB M.2 2280 internal SSD (SB-RKTQ-8TB) that breaks the 4TB barrier for high-speed NVMe PCIe Gen3 x4 SSDs.

Sabrent 8TB SSD – Utilizes 3D QLC NAND Technology

The Q in “Sabrent Rocket Q 8TB” demonstrates that this SSD utilizes QLC based NAND flash memory. There are many pros and cons to QLC technology. Beginning with the benefits – QLC SSDs are able to pack more data than SSDs with TLC technology. In addition, these SSDs are also cheaper than TLC, MLC, & SLC SSDs. Unfortunately, QLC SSDs do not perform as good as TLC when it comes to sequential/random write speeds. Also, these SSDs do not offer as much endurance as TLC SSDs.

If you want to go with a TLC SSD, the maximum storage capacity you can get is 4TB. Check out this very affordable 4TB TLC SSD from Sabrent.

Since consumer motherboards can only support a limited number of M.2 slots, users cannot get enough storage with 2TB or 4TB SSDs even if they fill all of the slots. This forces them to find a motherboard with maximum M.2 slots.

But the new Sabrent Rocket Q 8TB NVMe SSD solves that problem by providing a massive 8TB storage capacity in a single module. So far now, there is no word on the sequential read/write speeds, random read/write speeds, endurance, & price of this SSD.

Currently, all that we know right now is this new Sabrent 8TB SSD runs on the same E12S controller as other QLC based Rocket Q SSDs. This SSD utilizes NVMe M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3 x4 interface and is fully compliant with PCIe 3.1 / NVMe 1.3. In terms of power, this 8TB SSD will require 3.3V of power supply.

Smart Technologies

Just like other Rocket Q models, this new 8TB SDD will come with smart features like:

  • Power Management for APST / ASPM / L1.2
  • Sabrent Acronis True Image for Sabrent Software for easy Cloning
  • SMART and TRIM commands. Supports ONFi 2.3, ONFi 3.0, ONFi 3.2 and ONFi 4.0 interface
