WD just introduced a new SATA SSD in the market that is capable of handling 24/7 workloads. This WD Red SA500 NAS SSD offers storage capacities ranging from 500GB up to 4TB. It will come in both 2.5″ and M.2 form factors to fit into any NAS slot. However, the WD 4TB SSD will only come in 2.5″ format only.

According to WD, Red SA500 is optimized for caching in NAS systems. This will help to access frequently used files without any delay in speed. Since it uses SATA III interface, it cannot compete with PCIe NVMe drives out there, but it will still benefit a lot of users due to its stable performance and high storage capacity. Photographers and filmmakers who are involved in photo rendering, 4k and 8k video editing, color grading, 3d rendering, etc will love to incorporate this reliable SSD into their workflow.

WD Red SA500 NAS SATA SSD offers sequential read speeds of up to 560 MB/s whereas sequential writes will touch the 530 MB/s mark. It will offer a 5-year warranty. The pricing will start from $79.99 up to $579.99.
